Is Numbness in the Lower Abdomen Normal After 3wks of Tummy Tuck?

I am just now going on my 3rd wk of having a tummy tuck. The lower part of my stomach is really hard. I was told to massage it daily because I have a little fluid. Just when I think I feel better, there are days I feel horrible! Probably freaking myself out…but can anyone give me some tips

You will have swelling for months. Also, the numbness doesn’t go away. There is an area under the belly button down to the scar where the feeling never comes back. Small price to pay I guess for having a new flat tummy.

You are still in a serious healing phase. Remember, this was major surgery! Let yourself rest a lot and sleep as much as you can. the massaging is a good idea. I did it with pure vitamin e cream and it really helped with the scarring… although it’s probably a little early to be putting anything on your scar yet.

Be patient as the healing will take a year. There will be swelling off and on for quite a while. Take good care of yourself and be gentle with your bod, it needs to heal.

A really good support and resource site for TT people is http://www.makemeheal.com under the "forum" section there is a Tummy tuck/abdominoplasty section. That is an amazing resource and has a lot of people on there sharing their experiences and supporting each other.
